A very hearty thank you to everyone who participated in the FOTATA in 2010!  There was a great turnout for the award.  Here are the rankings in the order in which they placed:

Jenny worked her bunns off in 2010!  She published several articles in the Teke Mania, Akhal-Teke Inform, and the Horses Hoof magazines.  She also posted several interesting Teke related internet publications on her Tekes Tally-Ho blog.  She worked many long hours promoting the breed at the HOFRA China International Horse Fair and volunteered her time at the World Equestrian Games booth in Kentucky.  She also volunteered at the Spring Fling Eventing Clinic in Rainier, Washington and participated in several schooling clinics throughout the northwest on Sweetwater Farm Akhal Tekes.  Also Jenny and Amrita went on a fun Fox Hunt with their Tekes last fall!  What a great way to promote the breed!  Congratulations Jenny, for a job very well done.  :)

2nd Place:   Kerri-Jo Stewart  70 pts. total

Mounts: Darginka, Akpai

nominated by Argamak Akhal Teke

Update

Posted by fotata on September 2, 2009 at 8:02 PM Comments comments (0)

As of todays date, we have two entrants who are vying for this award.  Yayyyhhhh!!!!  This plate will definitely be going home with someone this year.  The two that are nominated for this award are very hardworking individuals that are getting the Tekes out into the publics eye - and it will definitely be a very tough call to see which one of them comes out ahead in the points by December.  But, then again maybe someone else out there is lurking in the shadows and hasn't come forward yet with their points to be added up..... :)   Ya' never know.

What do you guys think of this.......

I hate to see anybody go away empty handed after all of the hard work that they've put forth in a year.  (Yes, I'm a softy, sigh.....)  So, I was thinking that maybe we could give all of the participants some small "runner-up" prizes.  What does everybody think of that idea?  They would be very little items that would show some appreciation for participating in the program, and maybe keep the incentive going to come back and join in again the next year.  Maybe like a brush, hoofpick, haynet, medallion, or ect....?  If you like this idea or not, shoot me an e-mail and let me know what you think of it.

We're Up and Running!

Posted by fotata on July 1, 2009 at 11:34 PM Comments comments (0)

Well, here we are.  :)  The 2009 FOTATA site is up and going.  Wahoo!!!  Can't wait to see who wins the award this year.  Get your nomination forms filled out and sent in folks!  It's a lovely big award, and sure to look good in any Teke lovers home.

As stated throughout most of the site - this award is open to everyone.   We are not a closed club or clique.  This is simply an award started by two Teke crazy people who would like to see it go to some deserving people who want to earn it.  There are many individuals in different countries who have worked hard to help these horses, and not recieved much recognition for their efforts.   If you would like to nominate someone in a different country that does not speak english, please feel free to do so.  They can fill out a form in their native language, and we can have it translated into english.

I think that Lyn might mention this newly developed award in her column in the Equine Journal in the future too.  Yahoo!!!  If you have any stories or news to share with her, please submit them to:  friendsoftheakhalteke@yahoo.com  Always looking for Akhal Teke related stories and tidbits.

As a side note: This free hosting site was fairly nice and easy to manage.  But, I hope that the bombardment of pop-up ads doesn't disourage people away.  I know that they are really annoying.  Maybe in the future if this award gets to rolling really well, we might change it over to a "non" pop-up ad site.  For now, all the expenses are coming out of our own pockets so we're a bit more budget minded.  :)

Happy trails for now!

-Shannon.
